Hi, this is Mr. Boger, with the messages for the week of May 25th

 

Monday is a holiday and the school is closed.

 

11th grades will continue with the Smarter Balanced Testing this week.

 

Tuesday is an ODD day.

 

Hooray, hooray. The Green for Green Drive is back.  Bring all of those CRV recyclables that you having been saving up to school on Tuesday morning.

 

There are two performances of the Metamorphosis project this week.  One will be during period 5 on Tuesday and the other performance will be Thursday evening at 6:30.

 

The Middle School Gold/Silver Scholars Ceremony will take place Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 pm.

 

Seniors will take their period 3 final on Thursday and their periods 4 and 7 finals on Friday.

 

The Choir Concert Performance will begin at 7 pm on Friday evening in the auditorium.  And the 8th grade Dance will also begin at 7pm in the Dance Room on Friday evening.

 

The prom will be held on Saturday evening from 8 -12 at the Huffington Center.

 

This is the last week for late buses and for after school study groups.

 

This is also the last week for students who signed up to take AP Seminar next year to change their mind.  Students will not be allowed to drop the course after the end of this semester.


As you hopefully know, the parent-led 2016 Washington D.C. trip for next year’s 8th graders is off the ground. The first bus is completely full already. A second bus will be opened on a first-come first-served based for those who enroll on the tour on the waitlist. In order to get on the waitlist for the second bus, please enroll your student by calling the organizer, EF, at 888.333.9756 and provide them with the Tour ID Number: 1720812TZ.  Once there are enough students enrolled to open a second bus, the waitlist will be activated and your student will be enrolled on the tour. Please enroll your student as soon as possible!

Hi, this is Mr. Boger, with the messages for the week of May 18th

 

Monday is an EVEN day.

 

11th Graders will take the Math and English Smarter Balanced tests in the history and English classes this week.

 

Monday is Senior Spirit Jersey Day.

 

Senior Awards Night will take place Monday evening at 6pm in the auditorium.

 

Tuesday is Senior Spirit Disney Day.  Wednesday is Senior Spirit Superhero Day.

 

Also on Wednesday evening, the Sports Ceremony will begin at 6pm in the auditorium.

 

Thursday is Senior Spirit Future College Apparel Day.  Also the Senior Rejection Ice Cream Party will take place at Lunch in Room 103.

 

Friday is Senior Spirit PJ Day.  And FOL will meet at 8am.

 

FOL has asked me to remind you that there are 12 items on the teachers/staff Wish List.  Our goal is to complete these wish items by May 29.  We have 13 more days.   You will find the link to the wish list on the LACES website.  Please take the time to click on the link and see how you can help.  On behalf of the staff, thank you.

 

I am pleased to share with you that this week the Board of Education approved the science lab conversion project for LACES.  This much needed $4 million project will convert two existing classrooms into two high school chemistry laboratories and is scheduled to be finished in Spring 2017.

 

Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day and the school will be closed.

Hi, this is Mr. Boger, with the messages for the week of April 20th

 

Monday is an EVEN day.

6th, 7th and 8th grade students will be taking the English Smarter Balanced State Assessments this week.  Attendance is extremely important.  7th and 8th grade students will take the test in their regular English class. 6th grade students will take the test in their academic literacy class.

The Senior Panorama Picture will be taken at 8am on Tuesday morning in the Gym.  Graduation rehearsal will take place following that.

 

The FOL Parent Panel and Meet & Greet will begin at 6:30 on Wednesday evening in the library.

 

Students will leave for Calculus Camp on Thursday at noon.

 

There is a FOL Coffee Stop on Friday morning at 8am in room 103.

 

Movie Night will begin at 3:30 in the auditorium on Friday afternoon.

 

And New Student Enrollment will take place on Saturday morning at 8am.

 

The Grade Level – Parent Individual Graduation Plan (IGP) Meetings originally scheduled for April have been postponed.  The current 6th and 7th grade IGP Meeting will be held on May 11th.   The IGP Meeting for current 8th graders will be held on May 13th and the IGP meeting for current 9th and 10th graders will be held on May 14th.

 

If you have not yet completed the School Experience Survey, then please do so before the end of the day this Monday.  Parent participation is weighted heavily on the District Performance Meter.  In addition we really are interested in your opinion so please take the time to go to schoolsurvey.lausd.net and complete the survey.  Thank you.

Hi, this is Mr. Boger, with the messages for the week of April 13th

 

Monday is an ODD day.

6th, 7th and 8th grade students will be taking the Math Smarter Balanced State Assessments this week.  Attendance is extremely important.  6th grade students will be tested in their Academic Literacy class and 7th and 8th grade students will be tested in their P.E. class.

There will be a joint meeting of the SDM and SSC councils on Monday afternoon at 3:15.

BPO will meet at 6pm on Monday evening in the library.

There will be a Class of 2020 meeting regarding the Washington DC trip at 6:30 on Thursday evening in the library.

 

Please come and join us for our Annual Campus Beautification Project on Saturday from 10-1.

 

For the second year in a row, Laces is taking part in the JWW Walk to End Genocide. The Walk raises awareness and money for different projects in Sudan, Congo and many other places. The walk is on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Pan Pacific Park from 9-1. To sign up and find out more information, go to www.walktoendgenocide.org.  Make sure you sign up under the Laces team.

 

The parent leaders of the class of 2016 request that you join the LACES2016 Yahoo group.  This will be the main method of communication with regard to all class of 2016 activities, like fundraising, prom and culmination.  Please email [email protected] to join this group as soon as possible, as they have already begun planning for next year.

Hi, this is Mr. Boger, with the messages for the week of April 6th

 

Monday is holiday and the school will be closed.

 

Tuesday is an ODD day.

 

There is a school Blood Drive on Wednesday in the auditorium.

 

Both the Talent Show and Metamorphosis will have rehearsals on Thursday at 3:15.

Also families, this Thursday is LACES’ first ever Big Eat.   Five restaurants in Los Angeles are holding fundraisers for our school.  Choose one of the five restaurants in Los Angeles-- from South Gate to Westwood, Westchester to the Beverly Connection and Midtown, one of them is close to you! Please pick the restaurant of your choice and meet up with other families.   Go to the LACES website for more details.

KPO will meet on Friday morning at 8am.

 

There is a terrific opportunity for AP Biology students who want a summer internship at UCLA this summer.  Come to the meeting at lunch on Friday in the auditorium to find out how you can be picked for one of the internships.

 

On Friday evening the Talent show will take place in the auditorium at 6pm.
