Weekend Message - recorded on June 11, 2010

Hello, this is Dr. Kim, the Principal at LACES Magnet with the last weekend message for the school year.

Please continue to encourage your student to give his/her best efforts in class until the last day of instruction which will be Friday, June 18, 2010. Also, please make sure that all students return textbooks and/or uniforms as soon as possible.

If your student is riding a bicycle to school, please make sure that they wear a helmet and ride responsibly respecting all traffic rules.

As mentioned at various parent meetings and on the school website, our school is in the running for NBC’s School Pride, Extreme Make-over Program. The official announcement of the decision will be made on Tuesday, the 15th. In order to film NBC’s announcement to the students and staff, we have sent an appearance permission form to all students to obtain parents’ signature. Please look for a pink permission form and return signed form to school as soon as possible.

Please be advised that school will be on a minimum day schedule with the dismissal time of 12:34 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

Events for the week are as follows:

On Monday, the 14th,
Final exams for periods 1 and 5 will be given.

On Tuesday, the 15th,
There will be no final exams given due to the official announcement of NBC’s School Pride Program decision to the students and staff.

On Wednesday, the 16th,
Final exams for periods 3 and 7 will be given.

On Thursday, the 17th ,
Final exams for periods 4 and 6 will be given.

On Friday, the 18th,
Final exam for period 2 will be given.
Period 1 and 5 classes will meet.
Immediately after the period 2 final exam, 8th Grade culmination ceremony practice will take place in the gymnasium and the graduation ceremony practice will take place in the auditorium.

Also on Friday, 8th Grade Culmination ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m. in our gymnasium.

Graduation Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 24 at USC Galen Center at 4:30 p.m.

Summer vacation for the students will begin on Monday, the 21st.
School will resume on September 13, 2010.
Your child’s schedule of classes will be mailed to you during the first week of August.
