						<description><![CDATA[LACES Summer Reading – 2025<br>At LACES, we strongly encourage all students to continue reading during the summer months to build and strengthen their literacy skills. While summer reading is not required, it is highly recommended as a way to maintain academic growth and foster a lifelong love of reading.<br><br> <br><br>For AP Students<br><br>Students enrolled in AP Language and Composition or AP Literature and Composition should review the AP Summer Work document for required assignments.<br><br> <br><br>For All Other Students<br><br>Students in all other grades are encouraged to choose books that genuinely interest them. Reading for enjoyment is one of the best ways to improve comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking.<br><br> <br><br>We’ve provided a list of recommended—but not required—titles for incoming 6th through 10th graders. Students and parents will be able to ask questions and additional information will be covered regarding financial aid and paying for college. *IMPORTANT​* In order to complete the FAFSA application, it is important that both the student and parent must first, separately, in advance, create a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID) with the Office of the U.S. Dept of Education.  www.fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm as it can take one to three days to receive the email confirmation of your FSA ID.]]></description>

					<title><![CDATA[LACES DRESS FOR SUCCESS POLICY]]></title>

						<description><![CDATA[1. If a teacher or other staff member determines that a student is not following the school's dress code, the student is to be sent to the attendance office.<br><br>2. If office staff concurs that the student is in violation of the dress code then the student will have the choice of changing into a T-shirt (or other clothes) provided by the attendance office or changing into the student's PE clothes.<br><br>3. If the student refuses to comply, the student's parent will be called immediately and asked to support the Dress for Success School Policy that was agreed upon by the LACES community.<br><br>4. If the parent cannot be reached the student will be assigned to the main office during nutrition and lunch until the parent can be reached.  The student will attend classes until the parent can be reached unless the Principal believes the attire is too disruptive to the educational program.<br><br>5. The parent does have a right to sign an affidavit of Non-Participation in LACES Community Standards.  If this is the case, then the Principal will decide whether or not the student can participate in the instructional program for the remainder of the day.<br><br>LACES DRESS FOR SUCCESS SCHOOL POLICY:<br><br>Hats or caps may not be worn in classrooms, offices, cafeteria or the Auditorium. <br><br>Wave caps of any kind may not be worn on campus or at school events.<br><br>Drug, sexual, offensive language, or negative racial/ethnic designs on clothing are inappropriate and not to be worn at school or to a school event.<br><br>Underwear, including boxers and bras must be covered.  No extra-large or sagging pants.<br><br>Midriff must be covered.<br><br>Pants/shorts/skirts/dresses must be worn above hipline and must be long enough so that skin is not exposed above the horizontal gluteal crease.<br><br>Footwear must be worn at all times. <br><br>Consequences:  A student must wear his/her PE clothes or a T-shirt provided by school staff.  Repeat offenders may receive an after-school detention and/or further disciplinary action.]]></description>

						<description><![CDATA[Any request for a grade change must first be made in writing to the classroom teacher who assigned the grade. A parent must make the request to the teacher within thirty (30) school days (for purposes of this bulletin, “school days” are defined as days when the relevant pupil is or should be in school, excluding summer school, intersession, and Saturday school) of the date the grade report was mailed. This request must reference the teacher’s grading criteria and shall specifically allege how the teacher’s grading of the pupil reflects mistake, fraud, bad faith, or incompetency in assigning the final grade.
