									Energy Lobby Simulation Project:<br>Each of you will simulate a lobby group representing one of the following interests groups relating to energy:<br><br><br>Biomass		                   Coal		                     Geothermal<br>Hydroelectric	                   Natural Gas	                     Petroleum<br>Solar		                   Uranium		             Wind<br><br><br><br>You will be presenting before the US Department of Energy to receive a portion of the 100 billion dollar budget for energy innovation.  You will present your argument to Sec of Energy, Mr. Shows.  Your presentation should be no more than 3-5 minutes and should focus on the following components:<br><br>Why the government should help your particular industry?<br>Why your energy source is important to America’s future?<br>Why your particular industry should be expanded?<br><br>Each proposal should contain:<br><br>a) Content; clear thesis (policy proposal), supporting evidence, refute arguments<br>b) Visualization: illustrates and enhances stated arguments (not necessarily visually)<br>c) Delivery: time (3-5 minutes), eye contact, voice projection, good preparation<br>d) Citations: includes at least 5 RELIABLE sources and is in correct MLA format.<br><br>Grading Rubric<br><br>Argument (60 pts)<br>4 – Case for energy source has been effectively made.  Argument is clearly stated with supporting evidence and citations<br>3 --  Case for energy source has been more than adequately made.  Good counterarguments included<br>2 --  Case for energy source was made with some convincing arguments.  Some counterarguments made<br>1 --  Case for energy source was made with few convincing arguments.  Few evidence and citations provided.
