Description
Dear Parent/Guardian:

The purpose of this letter is to introduce myself and give you an overview of the course I am offering: Introduction to Computers for Middle School, Room 208.

As an introductory course, the goal will be to provide students with a broad overview of computers and related technologies, with a focus on increasing their understanding, appreciation and skill with these technologies. This is a one year course.

Curriculum

The curriculum will consist of three main components.

Objectives - Students will gain a minimum proficiency with and general understanding of:

1        Touch Typing/Keyboarding Skills

2        Applications (Programs: Word Processing, Graphics, Internet, Email, etc.)

3        Concepts & Issues in the Field of Computer Technology

Grading Policy

Your child’s overall academic grade for this class will be based on a Standard Scale, as follows:

100-90%=A, 89-80%=B, 79-70%=C, 69-60%=D, Below 60%=Fail

All student assignments, projects and activities will be given a specific point value.

Dividing points earned by the number of points possible will calculate student percentages.

Tardy Policy

  • Students are expected to be in their seat at bell (only 1 is forgiven)
  • 2 ardies = “S” in Work Habits
  •  3 tardies = “U” in Work Habits
  •  Additional tardies may result in standards, parent contact and/or detention

Standards for Written Work
