Macbeth Act 1 Exam

For each quote, you will have to:

1. Identity the speaker
2. Identify to whom she or he is speaking
3. Explain what is happening in the play when the words are spoken. 
   

Read and annotate Act 2, Scenes 1 & 2 of Macbeth.  You need 3 annotations for each scene for credit.  (6 total). 

Bring your journal to class, so that you can turn it in. 

Journal 7:
Read Act 1, Scene 7.  Create a Double Entry Journal where you have at least two entries for each scene.

Journal Entry 3:
Choose one of the two prompts to assert a thesis and Say Mean Matter two pieces of textual evidence for support.  that uses two pieces of direct evidence. 

In this entry there should be:

1. Thesis
2. Say Mean Matter of two pieces of textual evidence
   

Prompt 1:
Evaluate the different responses of Macbeth and Banquo to the witches' greeting.  Why would the witches' greeting startle Macbeth, but not Banquo? Consider the possibilities.

Prompt 2:
Review Banquo's speech to Macbeth (Act 1, Scene 3 lines 134-138), beginning with "'tis strange." What is revealed about Banquo's and Macbeth's character from this speech? Contrast the two characters. 

Journal Entry 2 in your journal:
Choose two of the characters you have met to this point and draw or cut from a magazine a picture of them.  Under each picture list three words that capture the character's personality and three lines from the play that support your assertion of  the character trait.  It lines may come from the character him/herself or from another character in the play. 

Your group needs to make sure it has:
1 shoe box
about 12 coins, buttons, legos, or other markers to represent actors and such
crayons and markers
