What words can I use to describe the raw emotion and verbal acuity that our students demonstrated in tryouts for the 3rd Annual Teen Poetry Slam.

For the fourth year in a row, a LACES student has won the Warren Christopher Scholarship. Congratulations to Gabriel Gonzalez! This is a four-year scholarship. Students receive $5,000 per-year in scholarship funds for a maximum of four years of college.

What an amazing accomplishment. For the second year in a row, a LACES senior has been selected to receive a Jefferson Scholarship from the University of Virginia. Stefano Rumi is this year's recipient (last year Ezekiel Reed was the first LACES senior to win this scholarship). This is a highly competitive merit-based scholarship designed to nurture future leaders by not only giving financial support but also providing invaluable professional opportunities throughout the student's academic career.

Congratulations to the Debate Team for their hard work in the State Qualifiers Tournament. Stefano Rumi qualified for State in Congress placing 2nd in the League. Jared Stone made it to finals in Congress. Chelsea Cantos may be heading to State in Oratorical interpretation, and Austin Moore will be going to State in Oratorical Interpretation as the league champion. Congratulations and Good Luck at State. Let's win it all!!!

Congratulations to Kevin Benavente who won 1st place in creativity and 3rd place in accuracy in the mousetrap car division. Bryan Murphy won 3rd place in solo math. Atticus McLarnon and Maeve Bronson won 3rd place in the eggdrop competition. Sabrina Flores won 1st place in solo math. Berenice Estrada won 2nd place in creativity and 1st place in accuracy in the mouse trap division. All will advance to the High School MESA Regionals at UCLA.

Congratulations to Connor Robertson and Jonathan Luo for advancing to the MATHCOUNTS State Competition this year. At a local competition at UC Irvine they successfully competed against 300 Mathletes from schools in the Southern California area.
