Black Parent Organization (BPO)
At its inception, the main focus for the BPO was to form partnerships between African American parents/students and LACES teachers/staff in a setting that was accessible to everyone wherein educational information would be disseminated and advocacy for higher learning could be achieved. Key priorities include addressing the achievement gap, academic intervention and support, and increasing parent involvement. Other goals are to raise funds for college scholarships, create community building events, and provide support and guidance to the Black Student Union.
